KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd has affirmed that it was granted profound water Block 4 and Block 5 in the Gulf of Mexico's Salina Basin in Mexico's first since forever sale of its profound water investigation regions.
Piece 4 was granted to a 50:50 organization between PC Carigali Mexico Operations, S.A. de C.V. (Petronas Mexico), a unit of Petronas, and Sierra Oil and Gas S. de R.L de C.V. (Sierra).
With respect to Block 5, it was granted to a consortium drove by Murphy Sur, S. de R.L. de C.V. (30%), with accomplices Petronas Mexico (23.34%), Ophir Energy (23.33%) and Sierra Offshore Exploration (23.33%).
Petronas Mexico will be the administrator of Block 4, a region of around 2,600 sq km in water profundities of between 800 meters and 1,600 meters.
The underlying investigation time frame for the piece is four years where Petronas Mexico and Sierra will focus on seismic information obtaining and handling.
Square 5, which covers a zone of around 2,600 sq km in water profundities of 700 meters to 1,100 meters, will be worked by Murphy Sur, with an underlying investigation time of additionally four years including a work program duty of one well.
Petronas VP of investigation, upstream, Emeliana Rice-Oxley said Petronas' entrance into Mexico's profound water field "gives a key fit to our business development, concentrating on upstream investigation openings and portfolio with potential for long haul esteem".
